1. Seafood – Jimbaran
Jimbaran is the best place for eat seafood at the beach while enjoying the sunset view. In this location, we can dine in the evening at tables and chairs placed on the sandy beach. Seafood can be served with rice, traditional Balinese “Plecing” vegetables, or various other side dishes.
2. Warung Mak Beng – Sanur
One of the famous halal food spots in Bali is Warung Mak Beng. In this eatery, the main menu consists of seafood. Yes, here you can find fried seafood and seafood head soup. What makes the dishes at this eatery even more delicious is the spicy and legendary Sambal (condiment) Mak Beng. 8. Nasi Ayam Kedewatan Bali (Chicken Rice Kedewatan Bali)
Nasi Ayam Kedewatan is a traditional Balinese food originating from the village of Kedewatan, Gianyar, Bali. This rice is a type of mixed rice filled with chicken meat served with eggs, lawar, sate lilit and sambal matah (Balinese Raw Sambal). This rice has a spicy taste.
The type of chicken used in this menu dish itself is a hen that has not yet laid eggs. Nasi Kedewatan is different from betutu chicken, curry chicken and fried chicken. The seasoning uses a Balinese condiment consisting of turmeric, ginger, pepper, cloves, coriander, garlic, lemon grass, etc.
9. Serombotan Klungkung (Serombotan Vegetable – Klungkung)
This typical Klungkung culinary “Serombotan” will be the right menu choice for vegetarians or Muslim tourists in Bali. In the process of making it, Serombotan also uses fresh vegetables, so it will taste delicious.
There are 4 main types of vegetables needed for the process of making this typical Klungkung culinary, namely kale, spinach, bean sprouts, and green beans. The Kintamani area is indeed famous as a Tilapia Fish’s producing area in Bali. Tilapia fish cultivation in Kintamani is mainly carried out in the area around Lake Batur. Therefore, the Kintamani people are used to processing Tilapia fish in various ways. Mujair Nyat Nyat is the most famous type of food made from Tilapia fish. This menu is not only a favorite food of local people, but is often hunted by tourists.
Tilapia fish really has a unique taste. In its processing, Tilapia fish is usually half cooked by frying or grilling it first. Regarding the ingredients used, generally they are Balinese spices.
11. Lawar
Balinese halal food that should not be missed during religious ceremonies in Bali is lawar. Lawar is made from a mixture of vegetables, minced meat and Balinese spices.
Well, the unique mention of this lawar depends on the type of ingredients used. For example, using young jackfruit vegetables, then it is called lawar jackfruit. Besides containing vegetables, there are also lawar made from minced meat mixed with vegetables, such as chicken, beef lawar, and seafood lawar.
12. Sate (satay) Lilit Bali
The most identical culinary in Bali is Satay lilit. This satay is made from fish, beef or chicken. Then mixed with grated coconut, coconut milk, lime, etc. Seasoned minced meat is attached to a bamboo or sugar cane, then grilled over charcoal.
Unlike other satay which are made with narrow and sharp skewers, lilit satay skewers are flat and wide. The wider surface allows the minced meat to adhere. The name of ‘lilit’ in Balinese means “to wrap”, according to the way this satay lilit is made.
13. Ayam Betutu
Ayam Betutu is known for its spicy and flavourful taste. The process of making Ayam Betutu is not easy and requires a long time.
The chicken is marinated with Betutu spices and then wrapped in banana leaves to give it a distinct aroma. After being tightly wrapped, the chicken is slow-cooked using rice husks for a long time to allow the spices to penetrate perfectly.
14. Bebek Bengil
You can also enjoy Bebek Bengil in Bali. In the Balinese language, Bengil means “dirty.” But don’t worry, it doesn’t mean that the duck you’re eating is dirty. Bebek Bengil is actually fried duck.
Because of its brown color, it is called Bengil, meaning “dirty.” The brown color comes from various spices and a marinating process that takes hours. Due to the lengthy marination process, Bebek Bengil has a delicious and savory taste that extends to the bones.
15. Tipat Cantok
You may be unfamiliar with “Tipat Cantok.” Tipat Cantok is essentially the Balinese version of Gado-Gado (Vegetable Salad with peanut sauce). This dish consists of Tipat, also known as ketupat, which is made from a mixture of coconut milk and rice.
The cooked Tipat is then served with bean sprouts, long beans, water spinach, fried tofu, and drizzled with a peanut sauce. You can only find this special dish in small local food stalls.
